We are looking for a motivated and technically skilled Development Engineer to join a growing team within the residential development sector. About the Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of residential developments. Working closely with internal departments, external consultants, local authorities, and utility providers, you will help ensure projects are technically sound, compliant, and delivered efficiently.
This role would suit an individual who is organised, detail-focused, and confident managing multiple developments at different stages of the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with the engineering appraisal of potential development sites

Coordinate and review technical information relating to roads, sewers, foundations, levels, and drainage

Appoint, manage, and liaise with external engineering consultants

Review engineering designs to ensure compliance with current regulations, approvals, and project requirements

Support the preparation of layouts, site constraints plans, and infrastructure designs for planning and technical approvals

Coordinate applications and approvals with local authorities, statutory bodies, and utility companies

Monitor progress of technical approvals and resolve engineering issues in a timely manner

Provide technical support to land, planning, commercial, and construction teams throughout the development process

Assist in managing section agreements, adoptions, and service-related matters

Support value engineering exercises while maintaining quality and compliance

Attend site, design, and coordination meetings as required
Skills and Experience

Previous experience in a Development Engineer, Civil Engineer, or similar role within housing or residential development

Good understanding of infrastructure design, drainage, highways, and groundworks

Knowledge of planning, technical approvals, and statutory adoption processes

Experience of working with consultants, utility providers, and local authorities

Strong communication and coordination skills

Commercial awareness and problem-solving ability

Organised approach with strong attention to detail

Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience
